THRIVE

                                        Young Adult Ministry

To THRIVE means to grow strong and vigorous; to do well and to prosper.

The righteous shall grow like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

                                                 (Psalm 92:12 NKJV)

Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 14 Nor do they light

light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the

house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good work and glorify your

 Father in heaven.

Purpose of THRIVE

Thrive exists to CONNECT young adults to Jesus Christ through peer discipleship and bible-based

teaching and to provide a network of support and accountability; to GROW young adults in their

relationship and freedom in Jesus Christ to develop their gifts and act upon their enthusiasm for

witness and worship; to provide a holistic ministry that allows young adults to encounter PROSPERITY

in every aspect of their lives.

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in

charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity”. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Method of THRIVE

We seek to accomplish our purpose by engaging in Large Group Sessions including events and conferences,

Small Groups, One-on-Ones, Outreach and Fellowship.

Goals of THRIVE

  • Share our faith with other young adults through education, prayer, and fellowship while allowing

them the opportunity to hear God’s message for HIS church and to encourage a personal relationship

with Christ. “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking

the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much

the more as you see the day approaching.”  (Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV)

  •  Worship God in Spirit and in Truth. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit

and in truth.” (John 4:24 NKJV)

  •  For each THRIVER to recognize their gifts and strengths through Christ, for we know that only what we

do for Christ will last. Once gifts are recognized, we encourage each individual to pray for guidance in

utilizing their gifts within the church. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,

faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10 NIV)

 Meet Our THRIVE Facilitators

Curtis & Jamila Jones

Curtis and Jamila Jones have a strong desire to see young adults prosper. Both individuals didn’t have an easy life nor were they fed with what people may call a “silver spoon”. They had to go through many trials, tribulations, and mistakes and had to overcome many obstacles in preparation to be used to minister to many young adults.

Curtis was raised in Jackson, MS where he graduate from Provine H.S. and also served in the United States Marine Corps. He is currently working toward his Bachelors in Science Management from Belhaven University.  Service to other individuals has always been a passion for him and seeing others become successful is one of the most prized experiences he has ever felt. Curtis accepted Christ in 2011 after witching his father struggle with a very serious illness. Curtis is ready, willing, and able to be about his Fathers business by being the hands and feet of Christ.

Jamila was born and raised in Chicago, IL but found herself traveling down south to attend Jackson State University to receive a Mass Communications degree in 2009 and a Masters in Human Resources Management in 2012. She always found herself involved with ministering and mentoring young ladies although not fully understanding her purpose. She fully received Christ in her life in 2010 where she became completely sold out for Him and to began her journey of living out His purpose for her life,.

Beginning a friendship in 2011, Curtis and Jamila never knew that God had a plan to evolve their friendship into something much more serious and in 2015 they were joined together in marriage and in 2016 were led to fellowship with The ROCK Worship Center and to serve as Young Adult Leaders. With like minds, they come together often to pray for young adults both single and married to prosper in God. They are excited to share their journey from single life to marriage with others while praying to be a blessing to everyone whose path God allows them to cross.

THRIVE is designed for them to join together with other young adults to live out their purpose that GOD has ordained for them. Please join them to carry out this mission!
